Become an Editor
As a member of Meraki Magazine’s editorial committee, you will be part of both our editorial and submission selection processes. This involves being part of discussions surrounding the overarching direction of the issue and working one on one with authors to develop their pieces for publication. A large part of your role will be focused around structural editing in order to develop a more accessible presentation of philosophy.
Meraki Magazine operates on the belief that philosophy happens in everyday life, and exists outside of the academy, and that this philosophy needs to be recognised; so you don’t have to have academic experience with philosophy to be an editor! It’s also not necessary to have editing experience. Our current editorial team has both experienced editors and people new to editing, so there will always be someone who can help you out whatever your experience.
Become a Designer
Are you passionate about art and design? We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to help develop the aesthetic and brand of Meraki Magazine within a collaborative team environment. Your role will involve sourcing art, photography, illustration, and design, to be published alongside articles or by themselves. You will also work with our website developers to create a visually appealing and user friendly online experience, with opportunities for digital illustration and design. In addition to this, you will contribute to our social media graphic design, aesthetic, and content. Knowledge and experience with digital editing software is advantageous but not necessary for this role.
Become a Website Developer
Do you have a passion to learn, and coding knowledge, or experience? We are looking for bright individuals who are interested in learning, or are currently studying, computer science or programming. This role involves maintaining and building Meraki Magazine’s website. You will mainly be editing HTML documents with CSS, but don’t worry if you don’t have any experience, we can teach you what you need to know! However, we are also on the lookout for people with further experience too, specifically in PHP, Javascript, Python, or HTML and CSS. This is a fun and exciting position ready to be filled with enthusiasm and a passion for learning.
Become a Marketing Team Member
Join our growing marketing team and help shape Meraki Magazine's online presence. Connect with our readers, authors, editors, and team members to communicate the significance of our author’s submissions via. social media and online communities. Your responsibilities will mostly involve producing and developing social media content that reflect our aesthetic and values, while working within our marketing team to craft Meraki Magazine's unique aesthetic. Experience is not required for this role.
Become a Financial Advisor & Treasurer
Are you studying, interested or have experience in economics, business management, or start ups? Or, perhaps, you have experience within the publishing industry? Join our administration team to help build Meraki Magazine into a financially stable not-for-profit organisation. We are looking for competent and ambitious individuals to manage and inform Meraki Magazine’s financial decisions. With expansion continuously on the horizon, we are looking for people who are flexible and have some experience.
